EDP VS EDT
We have all found ourselves in the situation when we ask the question how does someone smell so good and that smell lasts almost the entire day? That has been the question that has bothered men and women for so long, that many would just simple buy stronger and sweeter fragrances to achieve that enduring smell.
However, there is an entire industry behind this question dividing those scented bottles into Eau the perfume and eau de toilette. So the next question that arises is:
What is Eau de perfume and what is Eau de toilette?
The biggest and major difference between these two types is scientifically explained as it has a lot to do with the scented content itself. Eau de perfume holds a higher concentration of fragrance oil than the one in eau de toilette. Eau de perfume is composed of 15% to 20% perfume oil contrary to the toilette which has 10% to 15%. Each brand can make its scale and composition and make its own percentage scales, which will later define the brand and make it recognizable by exactly the concentration of perfume oil it carries. That is why Eau de perfumes tend to smell denser and richer, while Eau de toilettes have lighter and fresher tones.
Do they smell the same?
The brands today offer the same fragrance both in the Eau de perfume and the toilette version. But, it is important to know that these two bottles of the same fragrance do not smell the same. The difference here comes in the greater concentration of fragrance that alongside the chemical ingredients can develop a richer and more enduring smell. The addition or the lack of a certain percentage of an ingredient can highly dominate and make a change in the scent, making the perfume stronger and the toilette lighter. Also, the longevity of the perfume is a bit longer than the one of the perfume, especially if comes between sweeter and woodier notes. The vaporization is higher with the fresher tones, even if they come in the form of perfume, contrary to the sweeter tones that last longer.
Another thing to consider is the difference between the Eau the perfume and eau de toilette is the price. Perfumes are always priced higher than the toilettes because of the concentration of perfume oil they contain.
So when you know the difference now, it is up to you and your budget to find your pick.
